A stalwart Potters Bar business will proudly join the procession at the Lord Mayor’s Show this year.

Family-run property maintenance company C.S. Hodges & Son will parade five of their vehicles and a cohort of staff past the crowds and TV cameras at the London event on November 11.

The Lord Mayor’s Show is over 800 years old and traditionally includes military groups, guilds and businesses.

Chief executive officer Stan Hodges told the Welwyn Hatfield Times: “It’s a long-standing tradition and it’s an honour to take part.

“It’s nice to be a local company taking part in such an important event.”

Stan prides himself on his company’s charitable support for the military, and the message “our sincere thanks to all the men and women in the armed services ... you make us proud” is emblazoned on the side of all its vans.

It is the second time that C.S. Hodges & Son will appear at the fair.

Stan added: “Last year I was like a little kid with a big grin on my face.

“When I was a kid I used to go up there and watch it with my dad, and I never thought in a million years I’d be in it.”
