As usual there will be all the fun of the fete with a children’s fun fair, including a bouncy castle, games stalls, tombolas, Punch and Judy and much more.

There will also be barbecues and a beer tent.

Peter Weaver, who has been involved in the carnival sine 1993, said: “Normally the atmosphere is brilliant and everyone has a thoroughly good time.

“We get 5,000 to 6,000 through the door, subject to weather.”

Procession entries are coming in. If you would like to take part ring Terry Jones on 07507 646714.

If you wish to have a stall to advertise your organisation or raise funds for it ring Peter or Sue on 01707 850147.

The carnival has also received a cash boost thanks to a £250 donation from the town’s Sainsbury’s.

The money has come from the store’s Community Budget scheme, which was set up to help charitable groups in the local community and is partially funded by sales of the retailer’s ‘Bag for Life’.

Potters Bar store manager, Karen Staples said: “Our store is at the heart of the local community and it is important we can play our part to support it.

“Potters Bar Carnival is such an important event for the local community and raises thousands of pounds for local charities.

“This is the fourth year we have been able to support it.”
