The sixth Potters Bar Beer Festival was hailed a success after attracting huge crowds.

Despite a damp start to the day, the sun came out in time for the popular festival at Potters Bar Town Football Club on Saturday.

There were 35 different ales and six ciders to enjoy, plus live music by several bands.

It is estimated that as many as 1,000 people came along to the festival.

Club chairman Peter Waller said: “We had a nice big crowd and the weather improved by the afternoon.

“A lot of people came out with picnics and enjoyed themselves.

“It’s become a regular feature for people who come along every year.

“The festival is not just about beer - we have nine hours of music - and it is a nice setting for people to enjoy themselves.

“Overall, the whole area was packed again.

“We’re very pleased with how it went.”

The event raised money for the football club as well as local charities.
