The search began at Morrisons’ car park, in Panshanger, WGC, at around 9.30pm after the “vulnerable” 22-year-old man, said to have overdosed on drugs, had gone missing.

Police called in firefighters to use their 4x4 ‘ranger’ all-terrain vehicle and night-vision technology, as the pursuit moved onto pitch dark Moneyhole Lane playing fields.

Police confirmed the man was finally apprehended in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday) and went to the Lister Hospital in Stevenage.
