Police are investigating after youngsters tipped over wheelie bins in the Woodhall area of Welwyn Garden City.

Police were called at 8.13pm on Tuesday, October 24, to Longlands Road, to reports of a group of youths behaving in an anti-social manner by tipping over wheelie bins and swearing.

Officers attended and enquiries are on-going to identify those responsible.

Sergeant David Stansbury, from the Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “Hertfordshire Constabulary will not tolerate anti-social behaviour, which has a massive impact on local communities.

“We are conducting high visibility patrols and are working with partners to identify those who behave in this way so that they can be dealt with accordingly.

“If you witness anti-social behaviour please report it to us as soon as possible by calling 101 so that we can take action quickly. If a crime is in progress always call 999.

“While we do of course encourage young people to go out and enjoy themselves this should not be to the detriment of the rest of the community.

“I would like to take this opportunity to remind parents of their responsibility in ensuring that they know what their children are doing when they go out.

“Most young people are law abiding, however there are always the few that do cause trouble and anyone present and associated with those committing crime could also face police action including fines or being given a criminal record which can affect their future prospects.”
