A road was closed by police due to concerns for the welfare of a woman in a multi-storey car park in Welwyn Garden City.

Members of the public reported seeing a number of police officers at the exits to the Howard Centre last night.

A spokeswoman for Herts Police told the Welwyn Hatfield Times: “Police were called at 7.39pm on Wednesday, February 21, to concerns for the welfare of a woman on a multi-storey car park in Osborn Way, Welwyn Garden City.

“Officers attended and the road was temporarily closed.

“The woman was detained and taken to hospital.

“The road was reopened just after 8.20pm.”
