Police hunt for Welwyn shoplifters

Police are investigating after two shoplifters strolled out of store with a basket of goods in Welwyn.

The theft happened in Tesco Express, High Street, Welwyn, yesterday (Tuesday, June 19).

Between 8.10pm and 8.25pm, two offenders entered the shop, filled a basket with goods and then left without attempting to pay, in the direction of the White Hart pub.

Rumours circulated on social media that it was a robbery but police have confirmed it was not.

One of the offenders is described as a black male, wearing a dark top that had an orange design on the back.

The other offender is described as a white male wearing a striped top and shorts.

Any witnesses or anyone with information should contact Hertfordshire Constabulary on the non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference 41/9245/18.
