Police were called after travellers pitched-up in Aldi’s car park in Welwyn Garden City.

A police spokesman said: “We received reports of a travellers incursion at Ocado Ltd, Aquarius House on Bessemer Road, at 5.12pm yesterday (June 13).

“The travellers parked up in the car park and were blocking access to the warehouse. More vehicles arrived and started parking in Aldi.”

He added they were still there this morning (Thursday, June 14) and the landowner was working on evicting them, but an eyewitness told the Welwyn Hatfield Times this afternoon that they are no longer in the car park.

It comes after reports of travellers near Panshanger Golf Course, and also on green space off Billy Lows Lane in Potters Bar.

Aldi has been contacted for comment.
