Two vehicles were involved in a crash last night in Welwyn Garden City, leaving a busy roundabout blocked.

A police spokeswoman said: “Police were called shortly before 6.45pm yesterday (Tuesday, February 13) to a report of a road traffic collision in Great North Road.

“A Citroen Berlingo van and a Kia Sportage were involved and the roundabout was left blocked.

“Both vehicles were recovered and police left the scene shortly after 8.30pm.

“One of the drivers sustained a minor injury.”

One eyewitness said: “I was driving past Stanborough Lakes and past the boat roundabout, under the A1(M), and could see the blue flashing lights at the other big roundabout by the Jaguar garage.

“When I drove past the accident scene, the damaged cars were on the side of the road.

“There were at least a couple of police cars there.

“I imagine that the traffic tailbacks must have been pretty long at the time of the crash because it can be a very congested area anyway.”
