PUBLISHED: 12:43 08 November 2017 | UPDATED: 12:59 09 November 2017

A man has been fined £500 in connection with a brothel at his address in Hatfield - after calling the police himself.

Chunlin Zheng, 33, of Parkhouse Court, Hatfield, was charged with being the tenant or occupier or person in charge of premises at Parkhouse Court and knowingly permitting the whole or part of the premises to be used as a brothel on September 1.

When he appeared at St Albans Magistrates’ Court on October 31, he admitted the offence.

Zheng was charged £500.

He was ordered to pay victim services £85 and £50 court costs.

A police spokeswoman told the Welwyn Hatfield Times: “Police had received reports from Mr Zheng of a dispute in the premises and when police attended, it became clear that the address was being used as a brothel.”
