MYELOMA is a rare form of bone marrow cancer affecting 4,000 people in the UK.

When it is diagnosed it can be challenging to come to terms with, not only for the patient but also their family.

Therefore a support group has been set up in Times Territory for people dealing with the cancer of the plasma cells.

Selina Cole is someone who has experienced the situation after her father Ken was diagnosed with the condition last year.

She is now hoping to help other families suffering and has formed the WGC Myeloma Support Group.

“I know from when my dad was diagnosed with myeloma that there are so many questions to ask and it can sometimes be overwhelming,” she said.

“There is a lot of benefit in being able to talk with other people who have similar experiences, to learn from and support each other and to just get together for a chat and a coffee.

“I would love to hear from anyone else who wants to join the support group.”

The group was formed in January and held its first coffee morning at WGC Golf Club, in Mannicotts.
