A Welwyn pensioner has admitted possession of thousands of indecent images and films of children.

Michael Mallinson pleaded guilty at St Albans magistrates court.

The 81-year-old, of Chestnut Walk in Welwyn, also owned 11 extreme bestiality films - videos of both intercourse and oral sex with horses, dogs, and cows.

Overall he had more than 5,000 pieces of child porn, including 770 category A pictures and 40 category A movies, 1,374 category B images and 30 category B films, and 3,457 category C pictures and 22 category C videos.

He owned all the illegal footage on or before September 29 last year.

Mallinson has been bailed until October 6, when he will appear at St Albans Crown Court for sentencing.

Until then, he must not access pornography or own any software that allows him to delete internet history - imposed in order to stop Mallinson committing any more crimes while on bail.
