On May 19, a woman will have her second wedding with no expenses spared to an eligible redhead who will treat her like a princess - but we don’t mean Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
When Welwyn Garden City couple Helen Fraser and Stuart Alldis decided on their wedding date they never dreamed they’d share the day with royalty.
“There was no mention of the engagement when we booked the wedding,” said Helen, who is a mother of two and a management training consultant.
The couple will take their vows at Coltsfoot Country Retreat in Datchworth, also on the same day as the FA Cup Final.
Both Helen and Stuart come from football-loving families, but they had already made peace with the idea of sharing the date with the football final.
“My family are all Tottenham Hotspur born and bred, and he’s a Manchester United season ticket holder,” said Helen, adding that both teams are currently still in the competition.
“We thought it would be interesting if those teams are in the final!”
Helen told the Welwyn Hatfield Times what it is like to share a wedding date with two of the most high-profile events of the year.
She said: “To be honest we were initially a bit disappointed at the royal wedding announcement, and then we thought let’s just embrace it - we’re going to make a bit of a joke about it.
“We’ve already have some people joking and saying ‘we don’t know if we can come as we might get an invite to Meghan and Harry’s wedding’.”
But Stuart’s romantic gestures could rival any prince.
He proposed to Helen as a surprise in June 2015 on their fourth anniversary, when she thought he was just taking her out for a quiet restaurant dinner.
Instead, a chauffeur whisked her off to a private dining room complete with rose petals, fairy lights and Michelin-starred cooking.
“I didn’t hesitate to say yes,” said Helen.
The couple met in 2011 when Stuart was out on a stag night.
Stuart, who runs Creative Digital Agency in Hitchin, was dressed as a penguin when he first set eyes on his future wife.
He stood out from the crowd of 30 other penguin-dressed men because “he made you laugh,” Helen said.
For the wedding, Helen says there will be “no expense spared” and details of her wedding dress are a closely-guarded secret.
Her daughter already has plans to parade her horse to the church - though not with Helen riding - to add glamour to the day.
Helen said that regardless of what else is going on, “we want people to have a relaxed day”.
After the vows, the couple will head to the Maldives on honeymoon.
In the end, Helen is simply happy that more than one couple will have their dreams come true on her wedding day.
“They look really happy, so that’s always good news isn’t it – it’s nice to hear happy news.”
