A man was killed after being hit by a train at Hatfield railway station

A MAN in his 30s has died after being hit by a train at Hatfield station in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday).

Paramedics were called to the Great North Road station at 3.09am with crews from Cheshunt, Hatfield and Welwyn Garden City attending the scene.

The man, from Crouch End, was pronounced dead at the scene

Ambulance spokesman Gary Sanderson said: “First and foremost our thoughts are with their family at this tragic time.”

British Transport Police were also called along with Hertfordshire Constabulary officers.

A BTP spokesman said: “BTP officers were called to the line at Hatfield station on Wednesday, 24 October following a report of a man being struck by a train.

“BTP and Hertfordshire Constabulary officers attended the incident, which was reported to BTP at 3.09am and is currently being treated as non-suspicious.

“Medics from East of England Ambulance Service also attended but the man, believed to be aged in his thirties and from Crouch End, was pronounced dead at the scene.

“A file will be prepared for the Coroner.”

The line was handed back to Network Rail at 4.25am
