A man has been charged after three Audis were stolen in different incidents across Hertsmere – including one in Potters Bar.
Patrick O’Leary, 23, has been charged in connection with a break-in in Brooklands Gardens on November 22 this year – during which an Audi S5 and jewellery were taken.
He was also charged with a burglary in Bullhead Road, Borehamwood, on July 13, when a black Audi S5 was taken, as well as the theft of a white Audi S3 in Sullivan Way, Elstree, on June 3.
O’Leary, of no fixed abode, has been remanded in custody and is due at St Albans Crown Court on January 12, 2018.
Hertsmere Detective Inspector Graeme Walsingham said: “No-one wants to be burgled and it seems worse at this time of the year.
“The frustrating thing from our point of view is that some burglaries could be prevented – not all residents are securely double locking their doors, some are leaving their keys in the door.
“Offenders are also using residents’ insecure gardening equipment to gain entry into their homes.
“The other attractive home for a burglar is one where there are no lights on and the bins have been left out, making it look unoccupied.
“Give your home the ‘lived in’ look and consider investing in security devices so you remember Christmas for all the right reasons.”
