Police have arrested a man in Welwyn Garden City.

Police have arrested a man in Welwyn Garden City.


A man is currently in police custody after having been arrested on suspicion of shoplifting in Welwyn Garden City this afternoon.

A police spokeswoman said: “We were called at 4.17pm to the Howard Centre.

“A man was pursued by Howard Centre security staff.”

Police later arrested a man aged in his thirties and his remains in custody.

Shoppers in Welwyn Garden City watched the drama unfold.

Several police officers were spotted in the car park near Sainsbury’s in Church Road.

There was one police car and a police van parked up.
