A 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection with dangerous driving in Welwyn Garden City following a police chase involving the force helicopter.

Police and officers in the helicopter gave chase after spotting a motorcycle being ridden dangerously in Cole Green Lane and other areas of Welwyn Garden City between 3.30pm and 4pm on Saturday, April 14.

The motorcycle was ridden at excess speed on roads, footpaths and through red traffic lights while being pursued by police.

The helicopter was originally out searching for a man who had run onto the tracks at Hatfield Station, but the helicopter crew then spotted two men on a motorcycle allegedly interfering with another motorcycle in Welham Green.

In an OWL email sergeant Stephen Hynes said: “They followed it, and coordinated teams on the ground.”

•A 20-year-old man from Hertford was arrested and has subsequently been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

•The other offender made off and has not yet been arrested. Enquiries are on-going to identify that person.
