Hatfield man arrested following police chase

A Hatfield man has been arrested on suspicion of carrying knives, assaulting a police officer and two burglaries.

Police attempted to stop a vehicle in Travellers Lane shortly after 1am this morning after it was reported to have been driving at speed.

The vehicle, a blue Ford Fiesta, stopped in Cherry Way and a man got out and started running.

A police spokeswoman said: “Officers gave chase and an arrest was made in Cherry Way.”

The Police Dog Unit was also in attendance.

• A 36-year-old man from Hatfield has been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop for police, possession of two knives, assaulting a police officer, and two burglaries that are reported to have happened in The Common on Friday, September 21.

He remains in police custody at this time.
