Man, 28, arrested over Welwyn Garden City armed robbery

Police have today arrested a man in connection with an armed robbery at a newsagents in Welwyn Garden City.

The arrest comes after a shop worker was threatened with what is believed to have been a gun yesterday afternoon.

Hundreds of pounds in cash and £300 worth of cigarettes were stolen from the Martin’s newsagents in Hall Grove.

Police were called to the shop at 12.50pm yesterday.

The man they have arrested is of no fixed address.

He remains in police custody.
