AS D-Day was finally named in UFO hacker Gary McKinnon’s fight against extradition, his mum issued a last-ditch plea to keep him in the UK.

Janis Sharp, who lives in Brookmans Park, spoke last night (Thursday) of the family’s anguish in a heartfelt address aimed squarely at Home Secretary Theresa May, who will decide 46-year-old Mr McKinnon’s fate by October 16.

Ms Sharp said her son, who has Asperger’s Syndrome, would be likely to commit suicide if forced to go to the USA to face his accusers.

If convicted he could face 60 years in jail.

She said: “Please put an end to Gary’s trauma, he’s lost 10 years of his youth, 10 years of his life, he’s never left this country – he has a terror of travel.”

She added: “Please put an end [to it] and let him have some life back.

“And our lives have been destroyed too, and I’m just hoping that the Government will keep its word and will put an end to this nightmare.”

Both Coalition parties spoke out against extradition while in opposition, and Enfield Southgate Tory MP David Burrowes is set to initiate an urgent debate on the issue, in the Commons on September 18.

If the Home Secretary does decide to force Mr McKinnon to go to the USA, there will one final battle to keep him in the UK, at the High Court in late-November.

  • Gary, No matter how it plays out. You are my hero. You did what many wanted too. But did not know how. You found out the truth. I respect you and admire you for the risk you took. What your supporters need to do is demand that your trial be televised. This is the biggest reason you are not here. The truth will come out and NASA and their deception will be known to the flock. I doubt very much you will be moved here for trial. That would have been done 10 years ago. Hang in there friend. We love you and got your back. If you need anything. Let me know I will do my best to help. Thank you Gary for your very brave effort. Do not let them scare you into not telling what you found if they do bring you here. Stick to the truth. No matter how gloom it looks. Truth always comes out on top. God bless you.
