A Welham Green man has been running around all day helping vulnerable people who can’t go out in the snow.

Johnny Shearer, 32, has been using his day off work to offer his time to the community.

The car mechanic has been busy delivering milk, eggs, bread and other essentials to the elderly who are too scared to leave their homes in this weather.

He has also been giving pensioners free lifts and dropped a pint of milk into St Mary’s Primary School for the teachers.

The Welham Albion chairman said: “This morning has gone really well.

“I wasn’t too sure anyone would call but I’m glad they have.

“I think we should all do our best to help each other as a community a bit more.

“Hopefully this encourages someone else to get out there and help.”

Johnny can’t help his own grandparents as they live in Scotland but he hopes that somebody would do the same for them.
