Police are appealing for information after a series of thefts from cars, minibuses, trucks and a van in Welwyn Garden City.

In a neighbourhood watch message, police community support officer Daniel Hill writes: “We have seen a slight increase in the number of thefts from motor vehicles in Welwyn Garden City over the last couple of weeks.

“There has been the usual SatNavs, mobile phones etc but also items taken from the exterior, such as number plates and wheels.

“Please make sure that all valuables in the vehicle are removed after parking, along with any other items including SatNav holders, bags, coats, etc.

“A thief will see these on the seats and windscreen and chance a closer look in the glove compartment.

“Please also make sure your doors are locked.”

•A laptop bag containing a Wakon drawing tablet was stolen from a grey Ford Fiesta in Hunters Bridge car park between 2pm and 4.10pm on Friday, January 12.

•Both the front and rear number plates were stolen from a black BMW coupe in Forresters Drive between 7.45pm on Friday, January 19 and 10.45am on Saturday, January 20.

•Spare tyres from two Ford Transit minibuses were stolen in Great North Road between 10pm on Sunday, January 21 and 6am on Monday, January 22.

•A Garmin satnav was stolen from a Hyundai i20 in Barleycroft Road between 5pm and 11.30pm on Wednesday, January 24.

•A wallet and a purse containing cash and bank cards was stolen from a blue Toyota Hilux in Handside Lane between 11am and 12pm on Thursday, January 25.

•Offenders stole two wheels from a Ford KA n Russett Wood between 6pm on Saturday, January 27 and 10.10am on Sunday, January 28.

•A wallet and a purse containing cash and bank cards was stolen from a blue Toyota Hilux truck in Salisbury Gardens between 11am and 12pm on Thursday, January 25.

•The front and rear number plates were stolen from a grey Volkswagen Polo in Panshanger Drive between 7pm on Sunday, January 28 and 7am on Monday, January 29.

•Offenders stole both the front and rear number plates from a white Peugeot Bipper van in Hollybush Lane between 11am on Sunday, January 28 and 8am on Monday, January 29.

An iPhone 6 Plus, an iPhone 6S, a black jacket and a wallet were stolen from a grey Seat Ibiza in Stanborough Road between 8pm and 9.20pm on Tuesday, January 30.

•A rear number plate was stolen from a Jeep in Heay Fields between midnight on Tuesday, January 30 and 10.30am on Thursday, February 1.
