Players from Potters Bar Hockey Club stripped off for a 2012 calendar which went on sale earlier this year for £11.99 in a bid to raise money for Help for Heroes and refurbishment at their own clubhouse.

The girls have since banked more than £500 from sales of the full colour calendars, which will go towards an overall target of £10,000 the club wants to raise for the charity and their club.

Potters Bar player-turned-
calendar-girl Shelley Farmer said: “Some of us have personal links to friends in the forces, both injured and killed in action, and with our clubhouse in need of refurbishment we needed to think of a way to raise funds for our chosen charity Help for Heroes.

“After last year’s success of a naked calendar we have done it again, this time with military props. We’re chicks with guns.

“The idea was offered to all female members of the club and eight ladies from Potters Bar Hockey Club stepped up to the challenge. There were a few nerves but once the professional shoot covering up our modesty was under way it was a lot of fun.

“A percentage of each calendar will go straight to Help for Heroes and the rest to aid our clubhouse which is in its 150th anniversary.

“We have sold nearly 50 calendars already.”

Calendars can be purchased at the club’s shop at www.pottersbarhc.co.uk
