HERTS County Council has been nominated for a prestigious honour at the MJ Local Government Achievement Awards 2012.
It is in the running for the best achieving council award alongside local authorities in Bournemouth, Halton, Harlow, Oldham and Sunderland.
The winner will be announced on June 21.
Council chief executive Caroline Tapster said: "Being shortlisted for such a prestigious accolade is an excellent achievement and a testament to the many achievements of Hertfordshire County Council's staff.
"These are not easy times for local authorities and to be one of the few councils considered for this award demonstrates how successful we have been in anticipating and tackling the current financial constraints, while continuing to introduce innovate ways of providing our services."
