Welwyn Hatfield county councillors Malcolm Cowan (Handside and Peartree) and Richard Smith (Welwyn) joined forces with Phil Bibby and Martin Frearson to give £500 each from their locality budgets.

The £2,000 donation will help the charity cover training costs for volunteers to provide practical and emotional support to road accident victims. In a joint statement, the councillors said: “Road accidents can have a devastating effect on people’s lives.

“Volunteers from this organisation are involved in important work supporting the victims and their families, friends or colleagues. We are pleased to be able to help fund the necessary training.”
