A charity has invited residents to try its annual walking event after moving it from Woolmer Green to Welwyn.

The Hertfordshire and North Middlesex branch of Ramblers, which helps to protect the countryside, will now hold its event from Welwyn Sports and Social Club.

It will take place on Saturday, September 22, and will involve participants tackling walks ranging from three to 15 miles.

A charity spokesman said all are welcome, including accompanied children, and non-Ramblers members.

The walks start and finish at the social club off Ottway Walk, with start-times staggered so that they all finish by 4pm in time for a ‘bring and share’ social event.

Anyone wishing to stay for tea can leave their food at the club before the walk.

Walk distances and start times are as follows:

•15 miles – start time 9:30

•12.5 miles – start time 10:00

•10 miles – start time 11:00 *dogs welcome

•8 miles – start time 12:00 *dogs welcome

•6 miles – start time 12:45

•4.5 miles – start time 13:15 *dogs welcome

•3 miles – start time 14:00
