Funded by Welwyn Hatfield Council and Finesse Leisure, the joint project has taken 10 weeks to complete.

The budget for the project was £150,000 with Welwyn Hatfield Council contributing £110,00 and Finesse giving £40,000.

Improvement works have been undertaken to both male and female shower and toilets areas.

In the main changing area the flooring has been replaced throughout.

To mark the completion, an open weekend is due to take place this weekend, on both Saturday and Sunday (January 13 and 14), with the centre offering free entry to the swimming pool for the entire weekend.

Swim centre general manager Susie Greenslade said: “We are delighted to unveil the refurbishment at the changing village.

“It is a sign of our commitment to the venue and we know that visitors will enjoy the facilities.

“We are so proud of the impact that this will have, especially with the installation of new showers, fittings and flooring and the improvement this will add to our customer experience.

“It is always a challenge in a building such as this which is more than 50 years old but we have worked closely with the council on this project and are pleased with what we have delivered.”
