Residents in 10 Hatfield roads will soon be able to get faster internet following an announcement by telecommunications company Openreach.

The company has confirmed it is upgrading services for homes in Bracken Court, Campion Road, Clover Way, Cornflower Way, Daisy Drive, Gorseway, Ivy Walk, Lavender Close, Manor Road and Mulberry Mead.

It comes after Welwyn Hatfield MP Grant Shapps campaigned for better internet speeds locally, which involved bringing Openreach’s chief executive to the area to press for progress.

Access to Fibre-to-the-Cabinet broadband will be available from June this year.

“It’s imperative that local residents in Welwyn Hatfield have the best on offer,” said Mr Shapps. “That’s why I’ve been working hard to press Openreach for better services.

“There have been a few false starts on this one but I’ll certainly keep up the pressure to make sure Openreach follow through.”
