A Hatfield mum-of-four is starting her own weight loss group after losing five stone in a year and dropping six dress sizes.

Amy Jefferies, 34, of Dragon Road, went from being 18 stone and fitting into size 20-24 clothes to a size 12-14 in just 12 months after joining Slimming World.

The mother of Courtney, 13, Joe, 10, Myles, six, and Everlyn, two, started her weight loss journey after her weight was making her severely unhappy and causing her physical pain.

Amy told the Welwyn Hatfield Times: “I was in pain daily and let myself get so big that I couldn’t play on the floor with my youngest child.”

During Amy’s last pregnancy her weight rocketed and it wasn’t until she saw a picture of herself that she felt like she needed to change.

Amy added: “I had a friend who was doing Slimming World and she lent me a couple of books. I began with just these and in a month I had lost a stone.

“I realised that I needed some more help and I found a consultant near to me and joined a group.

“I was nervous and scared to walk through the doors for the first time but my consultant put me at ease.

“The others in the group were so supportive and I have made some amazing friends.”

Within her first few weeks Amy received an award for her weight loss progress, in 2016 she was nominated for Miss Slinky, at the start of this year she was voted the group’s biggest weight loss success, and attended the district finals for Woman of the Year 2017.

Amy has now completed her training to become a consultant and is set to start hosting her own Slimming World group on Wednesdays at 7.30pm in St Peter’s Church, in Bishops Rise.

Her group is being launched in the church on October 11, and her neighbour Welwyn Hatfield mayor and councillor Lynne Sparks will be there to launch the session.

If you wish to join Amy’s group you can contact her by calling or texting her on 07702911160.
