A Welwyn Garden City woman has admitted driving without due care and attention after a crash left a lollipop man seriously injured in Hatfield.

Mia Andrea, 27, admitted driving without insurance or a licence when she appeared at Stevenage Magistrates’ Court on October 23.

She also admitted driving without due care and attention in that she failed to stop while approaching a zebra crossing, colliding with a Ford Fiesta which had stopped.

The Fiesta was pushed onto the crossing shortly before 3pm in St Albans Road East at the junction with School Lane, causing serious injury to a lollipop man.

The man in his sixties was flown to hospital.

Police confirmed several days later that he was discharged.

Andrea, of Heronswood Road, was banned from driving for 12 months.

She was fined £180 for driving without insurance, £40 for driving without a licence and £200 for driving without due care and attention. The defendant was also ordered to pay victim services £30 and £85 court costs.
