A Hatfield charity shop is celebrating its first anniversary by putting on a number of activities in the town centre.

The charity Willow will be hosting a bake sale, competitions and treats on Saturday, November 3, from 10am to 4pm outside Unit 7, Hatfield Market Place and in White Lion Square.

The shop raises funds for Welwyn Garden City based charity, Willow - who work with seriously ill young adults aged 16 to 40 to fulfil uplifting and unforgettable Special Days.

A spokeswoman for the charity said: “Local residents and Willow supporters have overwhelmed the shop with support since it opened in 2017 with people volunteering in the shop along with mountains of donations, the sales of which go directly towards helping young adults with life threatening conditions.”

Hatfield shop assistant manager, Jacky Potter, said: “I’ve been volunteering in the shop since day one and was delighted to be appointed assistant manager last month.

“Without our amazing volunteers we couldn’t do what we do.

“We’ve also received a lot of local support, including lovely donations and we’re looking forward to celebrating our success with them on Saturday.

“We’re excited to be unveiling our Christmas window – we’ve got lots of festive items in, from outfits and accessories for the party-season, to items that would make great secret santa gifts and stocking fillers.”

The shop still needs further donations of clothes, bric-a-brac, electronics and furniture, as well as volunteers.

Contact the shop on 01707 265 818 for more information.
