Man fined for driving without due care and attention in Hatfield

A man who drove on the wrong side of a road past a police car in Hatfield has been fined.

Hamzah Olaleye drove a Vauxhall Corsa on the wrong side of the road in Goldsmith Way, Hatfield, on September 30 last year.

He was travelling towards the police car.

The court heard how the vehicles in front and on the same side of the road as the police vehicle had to pull over to the nearside kerb to allow the Corsa to pass.

Traffic on the same side as the Corsa was queuing as vehicles were being held at a red light.

Olaleye of Sten Close, Enfield, did not appear at Stevenage Magistrates’ Court when his case was heard on April 5.

The case of driving without due care and attention was proved in his absence.

The 22-year-old was fined £220.

Olaleye was also ordered to pay victim services £30 and costs of £85.

His driving record was endorsed with four penalty points.
