A 20-year-old man has been banned from entering Hertfordshire after travelling about 85 miles to steal from a Hatfield supermarket.
Florin Micu, of Nunts Park, Coventry, admitted stealing £1,377 worth of booze and other items from Asda in Hatfield on Tuesday, May 23, this year.
At Hatfield Magistrates’ Court, Micu was given a prison sentence of eight weeks suspended for 12 months.
He must comply with the requirements of a supervision period of 12 months, namely not visiting Hertfordshire during said period.
Magistrates considered the theft particularly serious given that it was the second high value theft in a short space of time and Micu had shown disregard of the courts.
Magistrates also noted that planning had gone into this theft due to the fact he had travelled from Coventry to commit the offence.
Micu was ordered to pay victim services £115.
His guilty plea was taken into account when magistrates imposed the sentence on May 25.
