A multi-vehicle crash has caused severe delays on the A1(M) stretching back to Welwyn Garden City.

A multi-vehicle crash has caused severe delays on the A1(M) stretching back to Welwyn Garden City.

Police were called at 1.17pm today to the northbound carriageway between Junction 6 (Welwyn) and Junction 7 (Stevenage) following a collision involving five cars.

The ambulance service has been called and police are currently still at the scene.

The vehicles involved are a black Nissan Qashqai, a silver Mitsubishi Outlander, a black BMW 118D Sport, a white Audi A3 and a silver VW Golf.

One lane is still open but congestion is building back to Welwyn Garden City.
