NatWest in Stonehills, Welwyn Garden City, is currently shut after a small electrical fire was discovered shortly before the branch was due to open.

Firefighters from Welwyn Garden City attended at around 8.30am, following reports of a burning smell coming form the bank.

The crews found the cause to be a small electrical fire in a fusebox, which was extinguished just before 9am.

A notice on the front door of the bank from branch manager Shane Connolly reads: “Due to a fire in the branch we have had to close.

“I would like to apologise for any inconvenience this has caused.”

The nearest NatWest branch is in Hatfield town centre.
