A daring pair of Welwyn Garden City skydivers spanned a generation as they leaped from 10,000 feet yesterday.

Retired electronic engineer Bruce Piggott, 74, dared a sky-dive with his daughter, former Stanborough School pupil Meisha Piggott.

Bruce, who now lives in Hertford but lived in Welwyn Garden City for 29 years until 2003, said: “Nothing can prepare you for the experience of hanging out of an aeroplane at 10,000 feet with nothing below you but empty space.

“The first 35 seconds was free-fall. Falling at 120 miles per hour, the rush of sound and wind is amazing.”

They have raised over £700 for the Lucy Foundation, which helps child abuse victims.
