With exam results looming Welwyn Hatfield teens are being urged to utilise free online counselling and support.

Hertfordshire GPs have recommended that young people suffering from stress use Childline’s recently launched ‘For Me’ app.

Dr Rami Eliad said: “If you find yourself thinking about your results constantly you may find it helpful to use some of the great websites and apps to get emotional support and even talk online with an expert.”

The app is available as a free download and can be discreetly installed on mobile phones.

There is also free online emotional support at Kooth.com, which has been used by thousands of Hertfordshire’s young people aged 10 to 25.

Kooth’s fully-trained therapists are available between noon and 10pm from Monday to Friday and 6pm to 10pm at weekends.

Stevenage GP Dr Prag Moodley said: “We know that the run-up to exam results day can be extremely stressful as young people think the worst and worry about what the future holds.

“I’d urge parents to remind their children that there is no shame in seeking support during hard times, like when you’re waiting for exam results.”

Hertfordshire’s plan to improve emotional wellbeing services for children and young people received £2million national funding.

One of its priorities is to focus on prevention and early intervention. For more information visit http://www.healthyyoungmindsinherts.org.uk/.
