THE Duke of Edinburgh will not be visiting Hatfield with the Queen on Thursday, Buckingham Palace has confirmed.

The Duke has pulled out of the visit as he continues to recover from a bladder infection. He had been admitted to hospital over the Diamond Jubilee weekend.

A spokesman from Buckingham Palace said last night (Monday): “The Duke of Edinburgh will be continuing with his convalescence at home and therefore will not attend tomorrow’s Garden Party at Sandringham or accompany the Queen on her East Midlands Tour later this week.

“The Duke of York will now accompany The Queen at tomorrow’s Garden Party.”

The Queen is still due to visit Hatfield House on Thursday and plant a Diamond Jubilee tree in Hatfield Park.

Her visits to Hitchin and the Lister Hospital in Stevenage earlier that day will also go ahead as planned.
