A Welwyn Hatfield charity has hailed its annual event for elderly and lonely people a “wonderful success”.

The Mixed Group, which provides Christmas Day meals and a Summer Cream Tea event, saw nearly 70 people enjoy its latest get-together.

Visitors flocked to Douglas Tilbe House, where they were treated to sandwiches, food and drink as they soaked up live entertainment from Welwyn musician John Croft.

Charity founder Sean Cox told the WHT: “It was a wonderful success. All the guests were chatting and laughing as the enjoyed their food and the brilliant music.

“I would like to thank all the volunteers, including members of the Welwyn Garden City Sea Cadets, for their wonderful support.”

The charity is holding a cycle rally fundraiser on Sunday, September 2, which involves riding 10 miles from Autumn Grove in WGC to Hertford football ground and back. For more information call 01707 325278.
