A NEW display inspired by the popular TV series Downton Abbey is on show at the Potters Bar Museum.
The latest exhibition at the Wyllyotts Centre-based museum shows how servants lived in the great houses of the Victorian and Edwardian era, speculating on how accurate the depiction of life ‘below stairs’ is, as shown on the ITV1 show.
Museum curator Arnold Davey said: “It is a contemporary theme because Downton Abbey has got people interested and the theme has had a lot of publicity.
“I like to alternate the displays between those that would interest men and then women, and this one will be of interest for women to see the lives of the female servants.”
Admission to the museum is free and the display runs until June.
The museum is open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 2.30pm to 4.30pm, and on Saturdays from 11am to 1pm.
