Staff from Hertfordshire Action on Disability (HAD), which specialises in supplying equipment and transport for disabled people, went on a whistlestop tour of WGC watering holes, as they collected some much-needed cheques to help secure the future of the charity.

Having learned earlier this year that all its local government funding would be stopped by 2014, the WGC-based charity has been busy holding a series of events to continue raising cash.

And the campaign was given a boost thanks to staff and patrons from The Doctors Tonic, the Ludwick Arms and The Hollybush pubs.

The Ludwick Arms held a raffle and a Halloween Night for HAD, while The Hollybush also held a raffle and The Doctors Tonic organised a Band Night.

All together, the events raised almost £500.

HAD’s business development manager Linda Cudmore said: “It is fabulous to have patrons of three local pubs supporting our work.

“This is the sort of community spirit that will help us at HAD secure our future.”
