There was major disruption to train services travelling through Potters Bar after a person was hit by a train.

The incident took place yesterday evening (Wednesday, December 6) at around 7pm.

A person was hit by a train near Potters Bar Station.

Great Northern warned passengers that all lines travelling from London King’s Cross to Potters Bar would be blocked, and there would be disruption to all services until 9pm.

Tickets were accepted by other services to help deal with the delays, and there was further disruption to the Moorgate - Hertford North service as the route was used as a diversion.

After emergency services attended at the scene, train lines were reopened at around 8pm, with disruption continuing until the end of the service.

Police have not yet released details about the incident.
