THE father of two murder trial defendants was shaking and visibly upset as he gave evidence against his two sons.
FORMER WGC man Daniel Davies, 23, now of Alma Road, St Albans, Troy Schuldt, 20, of no fixed abode, and Samantha Smith, 21, of Alma Road, St Albans, all deny the muder of Danny Spires on June 13 or 14 last year.
Smith has admitted two counts of assisting an offender, namely Schuldt, but denies a further two charges of assisting Davies – her ex-boyfriend.
Schuldt has pleaded guilty to obstructing a coroner – a charge both Davies and Smith deny – and perverting the course of justice.
The case continues.
Lee Davies said he was gobsmacked when he heard of the murder of Danny Spires and went to confront his natural son Daniel Davies and the boy he brought up as his own since he was a baby, Troy Schuldt.
Mr Davies told the jury of eight women and four men, Schuldt confessed to the murder while sat in the back of his father’s car.
He said Schuldt thought it was one big joke and showed no emotion about the killing.
Mr Davies urged both his sons to hand themselves in.
