A public consultation has been launched for the relocation of a village post office.

Post Office Ltd is currently consulting on plans for the Brookmans Park post office.

The proposal is for the post office to move to Charlie’s Valet at 1 Bradmore Green.

The branch would be open an extra six hours per week.

A post office spokesman said: “It would be a modern local-style branch with post office services delivered from a low-screened till alongside the retail counter of the dry cleaners.

“The opening hours would be Monday to Friday: 8.30am – 5.30pm; Saturday; 8.30am – 4pm.

“This would mean that the branch would open be open an extra six hours a week including earlier opening and later closing on Saturday afternoon.”

The proposed move from 12 Bradmore Green would be with the current postmaster’s agreement, according to the spokesman.

The move would be part of a major modernisation programme across the post office network designed to make it easier for customers to do business, through longer opening hours and modern open plan environments.

Suzanne Richardson, regional network manager, said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.

“We are confident that this vibrant new-style post office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs.

“This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the post office and will secure services for the future.”

The Post Office is now inviting customers and interested parties to give their comments on the move in a public consultation.

During the public consultation, Post Office Ltd welcomes feedback on any issues customers would like considered before a final decision is taken on this proposal.

The consultation will close on October 24.

Submissions can be made during the consultation by Freepost YOUR COMMENTS to Post Office Ltd, via email to comments@postoffice.co.uk, via the Customer Helpline on 03457 22 33 44 or Textphone 03457 22 33 55.
