WITH businesses going bust, high unemployment, doom and gloom on the high street and the weather depressing at this time of year, we could all do with some light relief and fun.

Well, a monthly new comedy night at a WGC venue could be just the answer.

The Comedy Club opens at the Gosling Sports Park this week featuring three top comedians.

Host Sally-Anne Hayward, Steve Day and headline act John Newton will bring laugh-out-loud stand-up comedy to the Stanborough Road complex for the first time on Friday, February 24.

An accomplished radio presenter with stage and TV acting credentials, Sally-Anne’s confident persona and quick wit have rapidly made her a much sought-after compere.

She has appeared in Absolutely Fabulous and on Channel 4’s Why The Long Faces.

Opening comedian Steve Day is warm, witty and engaging while dealing with the dilemmas of being a deaf man in a hearing world.

And his uplifting tales of overcoming the obstacles in his path will leave crowds feeling inspired.

A truly unique comedian, Steve has made TV appearances in Abnormally Funny People, The Sound Barrier and Natural Born Talent.

Headliner John Newton will leave even the hardest audiences spellbound by his penetrating narratives.

Add to this some subtle and often sublimely tasteless comedy, and you have the basis for a strange, but oh so amusing night out.

Doors open at 7.30pm and the first Comedy Club show at Gosling starts at 8.30pm, with the bar open until 11pm.

Tickets cost £15, while Comedy Club members pay £12.50.
