Visitors to The Coach House Restaurant, in Stable Yard, Hatfield Park, enjoyed free tea and coffee, in return for a donation to Macmillan, which provides invaluable support for cancer sufferers and their families.

In total, the event raised £568 and was well supported by those who enjoyed a cuppa while basking in glorious sunshine and listening to a live saxophonist in Stable Yard.

Meanwhile another coffee morning took place in Welwyn, at the home of Macmillan Welwyn Hatfield committee-member Anne Kimpton, where 80s pop star Kim Wilde made an appearance.

Workers at Acacia Street retirement home in Hatfield raised more than £100 with a coffee morning in conjunction with Mears care staff.

Spokeswoman Agnes Wiseman said: “It went really well, we raised £131 and we had donations from Morrisons and the Dutch Nursery.”

Last year’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning raised a staggering £7.9m nationwide.
