Residents can get into the festive spirit during a free event in Hatfield by singing carols and munching on mince pies.

Local businesses and residents are invited to sing along to Christmas carols in White Lion Square on Wednesday, December 20.

Under a marquee there will be a four-piece live band from 12pm to 1pm, which will be playing music for attendees to sing along to. Free hymn sheets will be available.

Everyone who attends the event will receive a voucher for a free mince pie and hot drink from Simmons in the town centre.

Bernard Sarson, executive member for business, partnerships and public health, said: “I hope to see lots of local businesses and residents together singing their favourite Christmas hymns at the last event of what has been a busy year for Hatfield town centre.

“I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who has supported Hatfield and attended the various events in the town during 2017, and I look forward to seeing you all in 2018.”

The winner of the best Christmas window display competition will also be announced on the day at 2pm.

They will be presented with a trophy by Welwyn Hatfield mayor councillor Lynne Sparks.
