A GALA charity evening put on by a widower in honour of his wife’s memory raised £5,000.
The event, staged by Mark Seth in memory of his late wife Laura Radcliffe-Seth and in aid of Sudden Arrythmic Death Syndrome (SADS) UK, was hailed as “a great success”.
And it is hoped the cash raised will be put towards defibrillators in the community, at public places like shopping centres and schools.
Laura died aged just 37 while the couple were on holiday in Cyprus last March.
On the fundraiser, which was held at Mill Green Golf Club, Mark said: “It was well supported by 150 generous guests.
“We had a terrific amount of raffle prizes and sold nearly £600 worth of tickets in 90 minutes.”
Auction prizes included a signed Tottenham Hotspur shirt, England Under-19 shirt and X Factor Live VIP tickets.
Mark, of Howicks Green, WGC, thanked everyone who contributed “from the bottom of his heart”.
He added: “I am so overwhelmed and so grateful Laura’s memory will live on to hopefully help others in need.
“Laura is my diamond and will shine on forever.”
Further donations can be made by calling Mark on 01707 331834 or 07885 636316. Call the same numbers to host a collection box.
