Police are appealing for witnesses after a cat was killed in Welwyn Garden City


A cat has been found dead with part of its tail cut off in Welwyn Garden City.

PC Shaun Buchanan said: “The cat had suffered a blow to the head with a blunt object and its tail had been cut off with a sharp implement, in what has been described as a surgical manner.

“A vet has confirmed the injuries were not caused by a vehicle and I would appeal for anyone who has any information about this horrific incident to please contact me.”

The black and white tabby was found at 3.30pm on Wednesday, November 23, in Homestead Lane, approximately 30 yards from Leigh Common.
