Unusual coral fungus found in Hatfield

An unusual coral fungus has been found growing on Comet Way in Hatfield.

The fungus was found by tree officers from Welwyn Hatfield Council yesterday while they were out and about maintaining trees in the area.

A spokeswoman for the council said: “There are a lot of them around because of the warmer, damper, weather. They should be being killed off in cold temperatures.”

The council has so far been unable to identify the fungus because many species look similar.
